Kristin Elizabeth Cavallari is an American television personality celebutante and actress. She is widely known for her starring roles on the former MTV programs Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and its spin-off, The Hills.

Kristin was born in Denver, Colorado, the second of three children of Judith Spies and Dennis Cavallari. When her mother divorced her father, her older brother Mike and sister Peighton moved with their father to Laguna Beach, California, while she moved with her mother to the village of Barrington, Illinois, a suburb an hour northwest of Chicago.
After difficulties adjusting to a new life with a stepfather and stepbrother, Kristin moved to California to live with her father and brother and sister instead. Kristin was enrolled at Santa Margarita Catholic High School for her freshman year. After she attended a Drivers Education course through Laguna Beach High School, her father enrolled her in LBHS.

Cavallari was in her junior year of high school when the first season of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County began production. At the time, she was involved in an on-and-off relationship with senior Stephen Colletti.

Cavallari's romance with Colletti caused a rivalry with another cast member, Lauren Conrad. The love triangle kept on going through the entire first season. Once Kristin took over the second season while the seniors, among them, Stephen and Lauren, together left Laguna Beach for college in San Francisco. Kristin and Stephen had a quite intense relationship during season two - because of the distance but we also learned Kristin wouldn't let anything ruine her senior year, not even Stephen. But they remain friends in the very end.

After the Laguna Beach finale, Kristin headed to Los Angeles and enrolled at University of Southern California. She signed on the UPN reality television series Get This Party Started which premiered February 7, 2006. It was canceled after airing two episodes due to extremely low ratings.

Kristin guest starred in another UPN series Veronica Mars in one episode. She has appeared in numerous television roles such as CSI: NY, Cane and Adventures in Hollyhood. In 2006, she signed on as Crystal in the horror film Fingerprints. Filming took place throughout April and May in two Oklahoma towns. The film won Best Feature at the 2006 New York City Horror Film Festival and was released in 2007 to mixed to positive reviews. In 2008 Kristin had a supporting role in Spring Breakdown as Summer. The starlet also starred in the independent film Green Flash alongside Torrey DeVitto.

For the first time in her career as an actress, Kristin got a leading role in the independent American high school comedy film Wild Cherry as Trish, which also starred Rumer Willis. Kristin also got the chance to star in the straight-to-DVD film National Lampoon's Van Wilder: Freshman Year as Kaitlyn.

In May 2009 it was confirmed Kristin would join the cast of the popular MTV reality series The Hills after all. Kristin was asked multiple times to show up on The Hills but she didn't agree until Lauren Conrad chose to step out of it.

Kristin appeared in the mid-season finale that aired on May 31, 2009 and appeared as a regular in the remainder of the fifth season. She inked a deal with MTV to appear as a series regular throughout two more seasons of the series following the fifth. The sixth and final season aired summer 2010. When everybody made it clear The Hills was over, everyone was going seprate ways... As for Kristin, she said she wouldn't do more reality shows but that she wanted to produce and work with them in the future.

In May 2010 Kristin released a shoe design for ShoeDazzle which got some extra spotlight and opened a big opportunity to start working on an own shoeline - also she is currently the new ambassador at Chinese Laundry. Kristin started dating a Chicago football player, Jay Cutler, who she met through a cousin of hers in late 2010. The couple got engaged in April the next year, 2011 - when the press spotted an engagement ring on Kristin from papparazzi photos. Unfortunately the two broke the engagement only three months after confirming it on Twitter. Some time after the breakup the couple looked to have found their way back and got re-engaged. Jay also told the press they never actually split, but they did take some time apart.
